Wexford U12s and U15s off to a flyer

THE WEXFORD Schoolboys League U12 and U15 ETP teams got their inter county campaign off to a flying start on Bank Holiday Monday with two big wins.

The under-12s travelled to play South Dublin in their Cashin Cup group game and, following a good team performance, finished 5-2 winners.

Eoin Porter led the goal charge, netting two, while Ivan Meegan, Luke Sinnott and Sean Duffy also found the net.

The Wexford under-15s took on Carlow at Curracloe and were in command for most of the game, with the final scoreline 3-0 in their favour.

Cormac Bates had an early chance for Wexford which was cleared, but he then provided the cross which led to Wexford’s opener on 25 minutes.

Evan Dunbar also played a part, heading the ball across the Carlow goal where Kevin O’Connor applied a neat finish.

Stephen McGuire and Johnny St. Ledger had chances to add to Wexford’s tally, but the scoreline remained 1-0 at the break.

Wexford were on the attack early in the second half and Donal Shanley shot just over.

But they were 2-0 up after 10 minutes when Stephen McGuire finished Johnny St. Ledger’s cross to the net.

Wexford goalkeeper James Buckley had to be at his best to keep Carlow out shortly afterwards, but sub John Reville made sure that Wexford would be taking the points when he scored number three on 25 minutes.
