Age Re-Alignment SFAI policy agreed by the Implementation Committee 7-2-2011

1.  Kennedy Cup 2011 - Players are eligible born on or after 1st January 1997

2.  Kennedy Cup 2012 - Players are eligible born on or after 1st January 1998

3.  SFAI Cup will retain their individual names and players will be eligible in 2011-12 as per the following dates

Menton-Seery Cup - Players born on or after 1st January 2001

Norton Cup - Players born on or after 1st January 2000

Goodson Cup - Players born on or after 1st January 1998

4.  Inter League competition will retain their trophy titles and players will be eligible in 2011-12 as per the following table:

Cashin Cup - Players born on or after 1st January 2000

EuroTap Cup - Players born on or after 1st January 1999

John Farrell Cup - Players born on or after 1st January 1997

Paul O'Neill Cup - Players born on or after 1st January 1996

All SFAI competitions will be run as 11-a-side.

5. For clarity and ease of understanding, it is recommended that affiliated Leagues adopt the practice of dropping the prefix "under" when designating their age divisions for 2011-12.

The system outline above relating to SFAI competitions which uses the year of the player's birth as the defining term should assist in getting people to recognise that players will continue to play with and against players of their own age profile and help to prevent people referring back to last season for age comparisons.

Leagues shall have the discretion to organise their age groups to play 7, 9 or 11-a-side football subject to the overall ruling that 11-a-side cannot be played below U11.

6.  Players who played at u15 in season 2010-11 should be able be absorbed into a u17 division with their own schoolboy league for 2011-12.

Where the SAI League doesn't currently run u17 football, and the local Junior League does, discussions need to be initiated between the two bodies.

Where the local Junior League does not run u17 football the SFAI League needs to initiate discussions with the relevane Provincial Association....LFA, CFA, MFA or UFA.

7.  The table below has been produced to outline the new are alignment's impact across the SFAI's age groupings.
