Wexford U13 –Training Camp
Wexford’s Kennedy Cup Squad took advantage of the extended Bank Holiday Weekend by taking part in a weekend training camp in Bunclody. The management team were assisted by two excellent coaches from Reading FC, Gary Webb and Andy Vaughan, with their input greatly contributing to the overall effectiveness of the training camp.
The training camp commenced with a two hour training and coaching session for the squad conducted by the Reading FC coaches on the morning of Saturday 1st May.
The afternoon session consisted of a game versus North Dublin Schoolboys League. Although the game ended 1-1 score line, Wexford totally dominated proceedings, with Ryan Delaney notching the goal for the home side. Wexford’s clear cut chances in the game ran easily into double figures, and while this is encouraging, these will need to be capitalised on, in order to have a chance to progress in the Kennedy Cup.
Sunday comprised of a training session in the morning and a second in the afternoon.
Again Reading FC’s Gary Webb and Andy Vaughan took the session, with the focus of both sessions on possession and attacking from wide areas.
Overall the training weekend proved to be excellent in terms of team building, game time and coaching practice.
The management team of Martin Healy, Pat Breen, Dave Harpur, Pip Murphy and team administrator Eileen Mullett, would like to sincerely thank Steve Shorey at Reading FC for providing us with two excellent coaches, and also with providing all of the squad members with mementos of their visit including a Reading FC jersey each.
